Bicycle rental system

Since October 1, 2022, the rental bike of the company nextbike is offered at three fixed stations: at the main station / large parking lot, at the Siemens Campus (western side, close to the railroad tracks) and in the Mozartstraße (backside Raspberry Palace). A total of 30 bikes are available, which can be rented directly, conveniently and easily via the APP of the company nextbike. The bikes can be rented at one station and returned at one of the three stations. The three-speed models are robust and easy to handle.

Between March 1 and September 30, 2022, 60 rental bikes VAG_Rad from Nuremberg have already been offered at the three stations mentioned above, as part of the research project "Road of the Future". The city of Erlangen is currently participating in the VAG_Rad 2024 tender process on the city axis of Nuremberg, Fürth, Erlangen and Schwabach, according to which an entire bicycle rental system is to be available in the four cities mentioned from January 2024, then with significantly more bikes, cargo bikes and a flex zone for station-independent rental. Until the end of 2023, the 30 bikes of the company nextbike will be available for loan as a bridge.
