From July 6 to 27, approximately 24,422 residents of Erlangen were called upon to cast their votes in the election for the Advisory Board on Foreigners and Integration. Voter turnout for the election—which was held online for the first time—was 5.7 percent.

There are different regulations for filming or filming in the city area:
Filming in municipal properties
Filming in municipal properties is generally only permitted with the approval of the City of Erlangen Press Office.
Filming of municipal events
Filming of municipal events is generally only possible in consultation with the organizing department.
Filming in the palace garden and botanical garden
The press office of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg must be contacted for filming in the Palace Gardens and Botanical Gardens.
Filming the sculptures in the Heinrich Kirchner Sculpture Garden
VG Bild-Kunst holds the exploitation rights for images and film recordings of the sculptures in the Heinrich Kirchner Sculpture Garden. As a public thoroughfare, the garden is subject to freedom of panorama, which is why images and film recordings in the garden do not require permission. Specific requests beyond this should be addressed directly to VG Bild-Kunst (www.bildkunst.de). The City of Erlangen accepts no liability.
Amateur filming with a mobile camera in public spaces
Amateur filming with a mobile camera in public spaces without affecting public traffic areas is generally not subject to approval. For other filming, a permit from the Citizens' Office - Department of Public Safety and Order - may be required. Here: Contact details
Filming with drones
Information on this can be found on the website of the Government of Middle Franconia. In addition to the regulations of the Luftverkehrs-Ordnung (LuftVO), the following applies in Erlangen
Drones may not be used over nature conservation areas. In the city area, this applies to the following areas
- Exerzierplatz and Brucker Lache nature conservation areas
- Area under the European Birds Directive (Regnitzwiesen north of the Dechsendorfer Dam,
in the Brucker Lache, smaller ponds and wetlands near the Dechsendorfer Weiher) - Landscape conservation areas

Drones may also not be used over the entire inner city area, as this is within a radius of 1.5 kilometers of the helipad at Erlangen University Hospital.
