What makes us special - Advantages of training with the City of Erlangen
The employees of the city administration of Erlangen shape and form the "City for All" and are its most important resource. Training therefore has a high priority as the first step of continuous personnel development and forms a city-wide, cross-departmental and cross-office task.
Through systematic, goal-oriented and qualified training, the City of Erlangen secures committed employees. These ensure the permanent maintenance and further development of the performance of the municipality for the benefit of its citizens. In order to meet the ever more rapidly changing requirements, junior employees must already possess certain key qualifications and develop these during the training period. This formative phase lays the foundation for their future professional development and for their early identification with the city's goals and values. In its self-image as a modern training company and in view of demographic change, it is in the self-interest of the Erlangen city administration to recruit, develop and permanently retain qualified personnel.
The Erlangen city administration trains on a needs-oriented basis and in its entirety. This means that all those involved actively contribute to its success.
The junior staff are part of the reliable and diverse community of the city of Erlangen. They pursue their training goal in a self-responsible and motivated manner and contribute to making existing work processes more effective and efficient through their creativity, willingness to perform and overall city-wide thinking. The junior staff members should become aware of their personal strengths, development potentials as well as interests. Lifelong learning should be a matter of course for all employees.
Both the trainers and the training and further education team support the junior staff and accompany them in their personal development on the way to becoming competent employees. They take pleasure in contributing their individual skills and abilities to the training process.
Transparency and trust are seen by those responsible for training as a prerequisite for high-quality training. They operate in a reliable network by ensuring close cooperation and demonstrating a high level of commitment. As training officers, they continue to develop their skills and also gain leadership experience, which enables them to actively shape their own personnel development. In their actions, they serve as role models for junior employees. Mutual appreciation, respect and openness characterize the training work.
The junior employees are accepted in their personalities, diversity in daily interaction is recognized as an opportunity and lived in action. The inclusion of different skills and talents opens up opportunities for innovative solutions in helping to shape urban society. At the same time, this holistic approach to training enhances the company's image as a training provider.
The mayor, officers and heads of departments provide sustained support for training by creating and maintaining a conducive environment.
In addition, the training and development team coordinates training and is available as a central point of contact.
Qualified training work thrives on mutual give and take and is a valuable investment in the future.
Even before the actual start of training, the city of Erlangen offers its new junior staff a multi-day outdoor team training in Franconian Switzerland. In various modules, the new employees* have the opportunity to get to know each other better, but also the city of Erlangen as an employer and the training team, and to align mutual expectations for the training period.
Further, the young professionals have the opportunity to deal with the issue of self-organization and personal responsibility in the training and are encouraged by self-reflective parts to become aware of their own competencies.
The perfect start to the new phase of life!
Experienced trainers supervise our young professionals in the completion of various experiential elements, which are transferred to everyday working life.
.At the beginning of their training or dual studies, all our junior employees are provided with a company laptop. This can be used both in theory phases (vocational school/university/cross-company training) and in practical phases.
The laptop is supplemented by a so-called "token" via which our junior staff can also access the municipal network from outside (e.g. from the home office).
Our trainers and training officers receive extensive training as part of a qualification series.
The training qualification series covers the core topics of training work in various modules. It is designed to support trainers and training officers in their training work and to strengthen their ability to act.
Even during their apprenticeships, our junior staff receive extensive further training opportunities as part of a seminar program to acquire or expand the key qualifications required for work processes and personal development.
To jointly achieve the goal of a successful completion of training, we also support our junior staff through exam preparation and internal lessons.
Both in the preparation for written and practical exams, as well as in case of need to repeat theoretical training content, we do not leave you alone!
The city of Erlangen offers capable and motivated junior staff a takeover guarantee following their training or dual study program.
