Once you have completed the employee training course, you can expect a diverse and challenging field of activity in the entire range of tasks of the city administration of Erlangen. FAQ's Employee Training Course
To become an administrative assistant, you must meet some requirements:
- You have on the date of hiring a successful degree as a* legal assistant,
notary clerk, tax clerk, insurance clerk or bank clerk. - You are willing to participate in the hiring year in-service employee training course I of the Bavarian School of Administration
- You successfully participate in the aptitude diagnostic selection test and internal selection procedure of the City of Erlangen.
In addition, you should be open-minded, have an open and communicative nature and like to deal with people. A quick grasp, good oral and written expression and flexibility at work are a matter of course for you. You take responsibility for your tasks and are committed to them. You are not a lone wolf - rather, you enjoy working in a team. You have good IT and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) or are willing to familiarize yourself with the specific programs.
.The BL I is an in-service further qualification at the Bavarian School of Administration (BVS). It is a prerequisite for the assignment of tasks comparable to those of civil servants at the second qualification level or administrative assistants. Successful completion of the course results in the award of the title "Verwaltungsfachkraft" (administrative specialist). The BL I course starts in February of each year and lasts a total of one year. Hiring date is regularly 01 January of the same year.
Theoretical training
In the so-called local course, the learning content is taught in parallel to the job in about 390 hours of instruction. This means that participants in the course usually attend classes at the Bavarian School of Administration in the local course in Nuremberg once or twice a week. In the course of the course, a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 two-hour performance records (= examinations) are written.
Intentual focus at the Bavarian School of Administration are the teaching areas:

Practical deployment in the administration during the BL I
If you are a lateral entrant*in 01 January of the year at the city administration of Erlangen in a permanent employment relationship, you will be immediately deployed in a specialized department. Here you will get to know the tasks and typical work processes of a* clerk* in the administration through concrete and practical activities and systematically become familiar with the professional content of an administrative specialist. You will become familiar with the interrelationships of economic, social and political life, apply legal regulations on a case-by-case basis, prepare notices and often have direct contact with the citizens of our city. As an employee of the City of Erlangen, you will ensure that our customers receive comprehensive advice through a service-oriented approach. As a clerk, you will process applications and inquiries, make the necessary administrative decisions, and also take care of organizational tasks. You can expect a wide range of challenging and varied tasks. In the course of the further training, which will start in February of the year of recruitment, you will gain an insight into the tasks of our city administration and will be prepared for your future employment in theory and practice in the best possible way.
The grouping is based on the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD) and takes place in EG 05, level 1 TVöD. The starting salary is currently € 2576.29 gross in the lowest pay group EG 05, step 1.
After successfully passing the Fachprüfung I, you have the opportunity to apply for administrative positions up to EG 09 a TVöD. The grouping and thus also the remuneration take place according to the activity, which is taken over. The performance principle applies. The law therefore provides for certain grouping criteria. If an employee holds a position and fulfills all job characteristics, the classification is made according to the previously determined job evaluation.
In addition, you will also receive capital-forming benefits and a special annual payment ("Christmas bonus"). In addition, you can expect regular salary increases and performance-related steps.
All course and examination fees for Employee Course I are borne by the City of Erlangen.
We also release you with continued pay for course and examination-related absences. However, you bind yourself under a repayment agreement. This comes into effect if you leave the service of the City of Erlangen before the expiration of two years after taking the Fachprüfung I or do not fulfill your duties during the course.

With the successful completion of BL I, you are entitled to use the professional title "administrative specialist".

In addition, particularly capable and motivated administrative specialists can further train to become an administrative specialist and advance to the higher administrative service. To do this, you will complete an in-service advanced training course, the so-called Employee Training Course II. Within the framework of this further training measure, all fees are paid by the Erlangen city administration as well as time off from work with continued payment for the period of absence due to the course and examination. As an administrative specialist, you will later have the opportunity to take on management positions.
