Our website offers so-called social buttons as an additional service, which allow interaction with social services. The City of Erlangen uses social networks as an additional service and for the dialogical exchange of opinions and experiences.

We do not use social plugins, such as Facebook Like button. The social buttons act as external links on the website, so that no information is transmitted to a social media provider without clicking on a button (2-click process). Only when you call up the links does your browser possibly establish a direct connection with the servers of the aforementioned services. Through this, the information of your website visit is indirectly (referer), forwarded to the social media provider. By clicking on the button, you will be redirected to the website of the respective provider. The URL of the current page is passed as a parameter. The user can revoke this consent at any time and prevent further data transmission to the operators by clicking on the corresponding button on the homepage of the provider.

We do not store any data from you. As soon as you click on the social buttons, we assume consent on your part according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO. We have no influence on whether or how the providers use this information for evaluation. More about this at:

You can decide for yourself whether the YouTube videos should be activated. Only when you release the playback of the videos with a click, you give consent that the data required for this (including the Internet address of the current page and the IP address of the user) are transmitted to the operator.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

Electronic Mail (Email)

Information that you send to us unencrypted via electronic mail (email) can potentially be read by third parties during transmission. As a rule, we are also unable to verify your identity and do not know who is hiding behind an e-mail address. Legally secure communication by simple e-mail is therefore not guaranteed. Like many e-mail providers, we use filters against unwanted advertising ("SPAM filters"), which in rare cases automatically classify even normal e-mails as unwanted advertising by mistake and delete them. E-mails that contain harmful programs ("viruses") are automatically deleted by us in any case.

If you want to send messages worthy of protection to us, we recommend that you encrypt and sign them to prevent unauthorized knowledge and falsification on the transmission path or send the message to us by conventional mail.

Link to the detailed instructions on electronic communication with the City of Erlangen.

Please also let us know if and how we can send you encrypted e-mails to respond to your submissions. If you do not have the ability to receive encrypted emails, please provide us with your mailing address to respond to your privacy-sensitive messages.

Notice of filming and photography

The City of Erlangen's website, municipal social media channels, and print media publish image, video, and audio recordings taken at public and closed events in which the City of Erlangen was involved.

At events, the city regularly points out that for purposes of press and public relations image, video and sound recordings are made and published.

Every participating person has the right to object at any time to the making of image, video and sound recordings that concern his person or as a legal representative for the person concerned (eg parents for children). The objection is in principle on site, the person responsible for image, video or sound recordings to communicate or by e-mail promptly after the event.
