"Clubs Day" at the City Archives

Stand: 30.10.2026

Information Session on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for all Erlangen clubs

May Day celebration on May 1, 1953, at Erlangen’s Schloßplatz: 300 members from all of Erlangen’s choral societies open the May Day rally

An important part of life in a city’s community takes place within clubs and associations. Naturally, the focus is on current club activities and future plans. But when an anniversary approaches—if not sooner—the search begins for documents and photos that help tell the club’s story. Fortunate indeed are those who can then draw on a well-organized club archive. Building and maintaining such an archive within a volunteer-based structure is no easy task.

Are you a member of a club? Or on its board of directors?

The Erlangen City Archives is here to help! After all, clubs are an important part of the city’s history, and their legacy should be preserved!

At our “Clubs Day,” we’d like to:

  • provide introductory information on club archives, including the selection, storage, and cataloging of your documents;
  • provide individualized advice on the questions and needs of individual clubs;
  • establish initial contacts for further discussions;
  • provide information on the possibility of donating archival materials to the Erlangen City Archives;
  • introduce the Erlangen City Archives as the “memory of the city,” which aims to reflect urban life in all its diversity and breadth.

When? Saturday , November 14, 2026, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where? ErlangenCity Archives , Luitpoldstr. 47, (entrance on Bernhard-Plettner-Ring)

Please register by November 11, 2026. Feel free to let us know which topics interest you most and where you stand with your club’s archive! Of course, walk-in visitors are also welcome.
