The Environment, Transport and Planning Committee of Erlangen City Council decided at a public meeting on July 27, 2004 to draw up development plan no. 252 - University North Campus - with integrated green space plan for the area bounded by Schwabach, Palmsanlage, Ulmenweg, Maximiliansplatz, Kath. Kirchenplatz, Vierzigmannstraße, Turnstraße and Harfenstraße.
In accordance with Section 2 (1) sentence 2 of the German Building Code (BauGB), the decision to draw up the plan is hereby published in accordance with local custom.
The spatial area of application is shown in the site plan printed below. The map is based on the extract from the real estate cadastre dated 10.05.2004.
Early public participation took place in the period from 21.02.05 to 22.03.05 inclusive.
The reason for the redrafting of development plan no. 252 is to secure the urban redevelopment of the University Hospital site under planning law. The city of Erlangen intends to implement the following urban development objectives with the new plan:
- Realization of the urban planning principles of the 1986 urban planning competition
- Solving the traffic planning, noise and immission control conflicts
- Securing the location for the medical services sector of the university hospitals
- Creation of a central green corridor between Schloßgarten / Maximiliansplatz and Schwabachanlage
- Preservation of the Schwabach valley landscape
The urban development concept for the new development plan no. 252 is based on the structural and development concept of the University Building Authority (UBA) dated January 13, 2000.
In order to concretize the urban planning design, the structural and development concept is to be revised by the UBA in accordance with the current planning status, taking into account the buildings that have already been approved and realized. The expansion options for the University Hospitals Erlangen are to be oriented towards the planned green corridor between Schloßgarten / Maximiliansplatz and Schwabachanlage.
