As part of the 50th anniversary of the “Rasselbande” daycare center, two weeks of varied celebrations took place. The children enjoyed numerous activity days, including a water day, a magician, a sports day, Zumba, and a puppet show.
The festivities concluded with a garden party attended by families and numerous guests of honor. Mayor Jörg Volleth, Youth Welfare Office Director Kerstin Knörl, and the heads of the Child Day Care Department, Sandra Ebersberger and Meike von Schamann, joined the center in celebrating. Director Ute Benke welcomed the guests. After a specially rehearsed anniversary song, the mayor offered his congratulations on the center’s 50th anniversary.
The history of “Rasselbande” began in the mid-1970s with the construction of a four-group kindergarten for the growing Büchenbach neighborhood. Since its opening in 1976, the facility has been expanded several times and adapted to meet changing needs—including the addition of an extra group, the opening of a daycare center, and reconstruction following two fires in 2009 and 2021. Since 2022, all the children have once again been united under one roof.
The mayor expressed special thanks to longtime director Ute Benke for her tremendous dedication and many years of service to the facility. The parents’ council also received recognition for its dedicated support.
For 50 years, the “Rasselbande” childcare center has stood for community, a sense of security, and genuine appreciation. It is a place where children can play, learn, laugh, and make friends.
This philosophy continues to shape the facility to this day—in keeping with its most important principle: The children come first!
