With regard to the housing shortage, it is reported that GEWOBAU apartments in Elise-Spaeth-Straße have been vacant for a very long time. They also asked whether apartments (e.g. for students) could be allocated on a temporary basis with fixed-term rental contracts.

Response from the Department of Sport, Health, Fire and Civil Protection:
The apartments are shut down and currently not habitable. The water has been turned off, among other things walls have been broken open and pipes shut down so that no legionella or germs can spread. The exact renovation concept is currently being drawn up. The rentability of the apartments will be restored as part of the refurbishment. They may also have to be used as relocation or alternative apartments for tenants if the necessary interventions in the apartments become more extensive, e.g. renovation of the downpipes.
