Nature conservation; BayernNetz nature projects

The BayernNetz nature projects aim to improve the biotope network in Bavaria. The "Wetland habitats around Dechsendorf" project area includes the valleys of the Moorbach, Seebach and Membach streams in the city of Erlangen. The aim of the project is to preserve the diverse wetland habitats with their valuable flora and fauna.

For example, the rare mussels in the streams are to be promoted and therefore silt deposits prevented. Furthermore, the annual mowing of the wet meadows is promoted and the owners and tenants of the land are encouraged to participate in the project on a voluntary basis. The sponsor of the project, which was launched in 2002, is the Landschaftspflegeverband Mittelfranken.
