Stand: 22.10.2024
From the farm to the table with the Bio-Mobile
What is actually behind organic? What does organic farming do for animals, soil, nature - and for me?
The international EU-funded project "Grenzenlos Regional - Bio in Europa" by Bioland e.V. in Germany and the cooperative Bioland Südtirol landw. Ges. in Italy in cooperation with the city of Erlangen picks you up in your everyday life with the Bio-Mobil.
Close, enjoyable, interactive and playful, it teaches you about the benefits of an organic lifestyle for people, animals and the environment. We create a place for you, your family, friends and your topics. Meet farmers, processing companies and other players from the entire organic value chain and enjoy organic with all your senses - and get to the bottom of questions about organic.
The project supports the EU's "Farm to Fork" strategy with the aim of achieving at least 25% organic farming by 2030. Be part of it too!

The daily educational program at the Bio-Mobile is open to all Erlangen schools after registration under the motto "Pack up your friends and experience an exciting day full of adventure and discoveries". 4 schools have already announced their attendance with around 10 classes.
2 classes will attend the cooking course "Vegetable heroes in action: playful cooking for a green future" on Thursday , 26.09. Together with health advisor Karin Depner, the pupils will prepare delicious dishes and baked goods from fresh, regional organic ingredients from the farmers of Erlangen Solidarische Landwirtschaft (SoLaWi).
While chopping vegetables, cooking and baking, the little heroes learn about the value of regional, organic farming for health and the environment. They then experience how delicious these home-made dishes made from high-quality ingredients taste when they eat together afterwards.
In addition, the two Büchenbach elementary school Mönau and Kirchner are taking part in the accompanying sponsored school garden education project and are not only learning how carrots and radishes grow in the organic education program, but the children are also taught interesting facts about organic food production, healthy nutrition, organic vegetable cultivation and the fascinating processes of nature.
The free program includes a workshop to install the organic vegetable raised beds at the schools, 3 complete sets of raised beds per school, seeds and planting material, educational and accompanying materials as well as advice from the project partner Ackerhelden.
This is about home-grown organic vegetables in schools on the way to a more sustainable food environment.
Friday, 27.09., 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Bio-Mobil: Biodiversity - What can we do for biodiversity?
Each of us can do something to promote biodiversity. It is the basis for our food. Organic farming, for example, avoids the use of chemical pesticides and cultivates biodiversity in the soil. You can find out why and how organic farmers do this at our biodiversity theme day. You will also find out how else farmers are committed to biodiversity and learn about typical species in our cultivated landscape - such as the lapwing. You will get tips on how you can promote diversity in your own garden, garden in a nature-friendly way and maintain your beds and lawns in a climate-adapted way. You don't have your own garden, but would like to get involved in promoting biodiversity in the city of Erlangen? No problem! Did you know that 16 farmers in the city of Erlangen farm according to the guidelines of organic farming? Four organic farms in Erlangen grow potatoes for you - more than 16 different varieties. At the Potato Day, two of these farmers will present their farms and varieties. What is your favorite type of potato to eat? Fried, boiled, dumplings or how? Organic gastronomy prefers to cook with ingredients from the region. Chefs from the region introduce us to their potato cooking skills. They cook for us live and on site at the Bio-Mobil. On the moderated podium of the Bio-Mobil, we will talk to experts at the Erlangen Potato Day about how we can bring organic potatoes from Erlangen directly into the kitchens of public institutions in the "Biostadt Erlangen" and perhaps even into company canteens.
1 & 2 p.m.: moderated cooking show
- Claudia Schorcht (Lesecafé Anständig Essen e.V.): The art of potato cooking
Dishes:
1pm-1:30pm:
- Potato soup with melted onions:
Potatoes are a good basis for making very differently flavored, tasty soups - whether Indian, Mediterranean, Arabic or down-to-earth Franconian. We stick to the Franconian version here and give it a spicy touch with golden yellow melted onions. Use floury or predominantly waxy potatoes.
- Potato waffles with apple sauce:
Dumplings, potato pancakes or waffles require a certain amount of time to make. The organic dumpling dough from Ökost, a regional supplier based in Hemhofen, is ideal for households that like to use dumpling dough from the chiller cabinet for these potato dishes. Regional organic quality is also a good choice here.
14-14:30:
- Quick and easy homemade mashed potatoes:
Make your own mashed potatoes? Why not? It tastes much better than from the packet and is quick and easy. Tasting with seasonal vegetables. Processing floury potatoes.
- Potato salad with vegan sausages:
Potato salad is great for getting a quick meal on the table, as it tastes best when it's had a few hours or even a day to soak. With vegan sausages, it is a climate-friendly dish that children also like. Processing waxy potatoes.
