Mayor Volleth visits French twin town

Stand: 28.10.2024

A few days ago, Mayor Jörg Volleth was a guest in the French twin town of Rennes. He accepted an invitation from the mayor of Rennes to mark the 60th anniversary of the town twinning.

Mehrere Menschen. The program included visits to various cultural institutions and urban development projects as well as the vernissage of the "Show me your city!" exhibition. For this joint anniversary project, the citizens of Erlangen and Rennes were invited to submit photos of their favorite places at the beginning of the year. The result was an exhibition with motifs from Rennes. It was displayed on advertising pillars in Erlangen in April and May. There was also a Rennaiser version of the exhibition. It will now show motifs from Erlangen at Rennes train station.

At their meeting, Mayor Volleth and his counterpart Marc Hervé (first mayor of Rennes) emphasized the long-standing and trusting cooperation between the two cities and the importance of Franco-German relations in Europe.

With the establishment of the town twinning on May 27, 1964, both cities affirmed their desire to bring the two peoples closer together. Like many other municipalities, they thus implemented the idea of the Élysée Treaty, which had been signed just under a year earlier, at a local level.
