From June 27 to July 2, 2025, it's off to Erlangen's South Tyrolean twin city. Travel is possible from 610 euros.
The Freundeskreis Bozen in cooperation with the Stadtverband der Erlanger Kulturvereine invites you to a six-day citizens' trip to the South Tyrolean twin city of Bolzano. The trip will take place from June 27 to July 2, 2025. There will be a varied program with cultural and historical highlights.
The program
The program includes city tours in Bolzano and nearby Bressanone as well as a guided tour of Runkelstein Castle, the so-called "picture castle" with its unique secular murals. At a twinning evening, the group of visitors will meet representatives of the city, associations, groups and institutions to get to know each other and exchange ideas.
A special highlight of the trip is the Sacred Heart of Jesus Festival on Sunday, June 29. This important South Tyrolean festival is a reminder of the Napoleonic era. It is celebrated with a solemn procession from the cathedral through the city center to Waltherplatz. On the evening of the festival, locals light impressive mountain fires on the surrounding heights.
Other items on the program include
- a visit to the first Bolzano burial site of Josef Mayr-Nusser, whose fate led to the establishment of the town twinning
- a full-day coach trip with a guided tour through the Vinschgau Valley with its apple orchards and sights between the Reschen Pass and Eppan on the South Tyrolean Wine Route
- a visit to the town of Brixen with a guided tour of the town and a trip to the Neustift monastery (planned).
There will also be plenty of free time. For example, for a visit to the famous Ötzi Museum.
