What is the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ)?

The FÖJ is a voluntary service, education and orientation year for young people between the ages of 16 and 27 who want to gain an insight into nature and the environment. It is characterized by practical activities under professional guidance, during which the volunteers gain valuable experience. It starts on September 1st.

What activities can you expect?

• Assistance with species and biotope protection (e.g. maintenance of dry and wet areas, amphibian protection)
• Looking after orchards and nature conservation ponds (e.g. pruning fruit trees, maintenance)
• Care of landscape and nature conservation areas (e.g. parade ground/Brucker Lache)
• Pond management (e.g. helping with fishing)
• Water protection
• Beaver management (e.g. control and documentation of dams)
• Participation in environmental education and public relations work (e.g. supervising school classes on the Klimaacker)

What does the Environmental Protection and Energy Office offer you?

Prerequisites

• Class B driving license
• Reliable and independent work
• Ability to perform physical work
