Passing on used items

We've all been there. Whether it's moving house, moving in together, clearing out an apartment or simply tidying up properly and sorting out things that have not been used for a long time.

We still have good things that are far too good for the garbage can or bulky waste, but we don't know what to do with them.

There are at least two specific options for this in Erlangen:

The social department store

Here you can - by prior arrangement - hand in well-preserved furniture and other second-hand items free of charge. In addition, every citizen of Erlangen can buy well-preserved everyday items here for a small fee. Even browsing through the shelves of the social department store without needing anything is fun. With a bit of luck, you might even find a replacement for a set of glasses or coffee service that is no longer complete, to make it complete again.

The gift exchange

The Erlangen give-away and swap exchange is aimed at all internet users.

On the digital platform, which covers Erlangen and some surrounding areas such as Nuremberg, Fürth, Schwabach or Forchheim, items that are no longer needed can be given away, exchanged but also sold to a certain extent. Here, supply and demand and the monetary value assumed by the provider determine whether something is sold or given away. Direct collection from the provider, but also shipping (if the item is large enough) are conceivable ways of obtaining the desired goods.
