The Free State of Bavaria supports individual company investments in tangible and intangible fixed assets with regional commercial funding. The grant can be awarded as an investment subsidy, wage cost subsidy or as an interest subsidy to reduce the cost of a loan to be granted by the LfA Förderbank.

According to the guidelines, eligible investments include in particular
a) Establishment of a new business premises,
b) Expansion of an existing establishment,
c) acquisition and relocation of an establishment, diversification of the production of an establishment into new, additional products,
d) fundamental rationalization/modernization of an establishment,
e) takeover of an establishment that has been closed or is threatened with closure (under market conditions), including any additional investments.
Measures in connection with the introduction and application of new technologies are given priority.
Investments to cover own energy requirements from renewable sources, investments with special energy efficiency effects and investments with special environmental protection effects that are made in connection with an investment project mentioned above are also eligible.
The minimum investment amount is generally 500,000 euros.
In Erlangen, small and medium-sized commercial enterprises are eligible to apply. According to the current status, tourism companies from Erlangen are not eligible to apply. The subsidy rate for Bavarian regional funding (BRF) is up to 20% for small companies and 10% for medium-sized companies.
Applications for funding must be submitted online to the government of Middle Franconia before the start of the project. Due to the very complex funding procedure, advice from the responsible district government is recommended before submitting an application
