The municipal children's home is located close to the city center in the "Am Anger" area of Erlangen and is part of the Pestalozzi elementary school catchment area.

The ERBA House for Children combines crèche, kindergarten and after-school care under one roof. The groups work together across groups in a partially open concept, so that children and parents have a fixed point of reference for several years. Learning and education are thus made possible holistically and across all ages in the daycare center.

The daycare center has 3 floors:

• On the first floor is the kindergarten with 2 group rooms and a shared creative room and gym
• On the 1st floor is the after-school care center with two group rooms and a homework room
• On the 2nd floor, the crèche children feel at home in two group rooms and a roof terrace.
• The 3rd floor can be used by all children in the building. The library, a music room, a table football room, an education room and a meeting room are located here.

At ERBA - Haus für Kinder, the educational staff treat all children with appreciation, recognition and respect, provide guidance and encourage self-determined action. Each child is perceived as an independent, competent personality and is challenged and supported in his or her development accordingly.

The following examples illustrate our pedagogical approach:

• The children are treated as equals.
• The children are seen as individuals with their own resources and development needs.
• Each child is treated with respect and given space and protection in their own learning and development process.
• A good, reliable relationship is built up with each other.
• The educational staff engage in educational play with the children and are on hand to provide support.
• The children are actively listened to and involved in the day-to-day running of the daycare center.
• Fixed structures and rituals in the daycare center provide the children with stability and orientation.
• Enjoyment and fun with the children is our top priority.
