The municipal Flohkiste children's home consists of a crèche group and three kindergarten groups, in which children aged from one year to school entry are cared for. The facility has space for twelve crèche children and 75 kindergarten children. Integrative places are also offered.
The facility is located in the Alterlangen district between Regnitzgrundwiesen and the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, near Freibad West. There is a small park and a large playground in the immediate vicinity of the facility.
At the municipal Flohkiste children's home, we want to create an environment in which children feel safe and accepted. Children can gain a wide range of experiences through various activities and offers in the children's home and the surrounding area. Our focus is on holistic care and education from the first year of life until the children start school, using a situational and lifeworld-oriented approach. This is based on the children's individual needs and interests. Our educational work is based on the principle "Help me to do it myself" (M. Montessori) in order to give children independence, a good sense of self-worth and a respectful attitude towards themselves, other people and the environment.
The nursery has the following premises:
The crèche consists of a:
- large entrance and play corridor area with checkroom
- Group room with play area and a dining area with kitchenette
- Washroom with toilets, shower and changing area
- bedroom
- Outdoor area with sandpit, play frame, seesaw element and playhouse
Each kindergarten group consists of one:
- Group room with different play areas (e.g. building corner, painting corner)
- Side room with kitchenette
- Washroom with toilets
- Checkroom area
The children's house also has
- Gym/multi-purpose room
- Dining room/multi-purpose room with adjoining kitchen
- Parents' area
- office
- Staff room
- Outdoor play area with water play area and various play equipment
The children's house works according to a partially open room concept. The children each have a fixed home group here, but also meet across groups, for example during early and late shifts, garden times or cross-group activities and offers. The children also have the opportunity to visit each other in the groups.
The lifeworld-oriented approach is the basis of our educational work. We want to give the children the opportunity to gain new and varied experiences in an environment of well-being and security.
