Komotau (Czech Republic)

In 1951, the city of Erlangen took over the sponsorship of the displaced persons from Komotau, now Chomutov, in northern Bohemia. Together with the expellees from Brüx, the survivors of the persecutions and their descendants in Erlangen run the so-called "Heimatstube" in Fahrstraße 14a, where, in consultation with the chairwoman, Hedwig Gemmrig, documents on the history of the Germans in what is now the Czech Republic can be viewed at hedwig.gemmrig@gmx.de,Dokumente. Every two years, members of the Heimatkreis meet in Erlangen in the autumn and plan their program, which always includes meetings in Chomutov. Find out more at: https://komotau.de
