Public relations work against parking offenders - reminder cards

Stand: 28.05.2024

Illegal parking on footpaths and cycle paths is a widespread habit in the city of Erlangen. Pedestrians, cyclists, people with baby carriages and people with limited mobility are obstructed and endangered in many places as a result.

In order to draw attention to this misconduct and the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, so-called "reminder cards" are distributed to cars that are parked incorrectly. The idea behind this is to appeal to the consideration of road users through a well-intentioned appeal without directly sanctioning incorrect parking. The reminder cards illustrate situations such as incorrect parking on roadside footpaths and cycle paths or parking in front of fire department access roads.

Comparable projects from other cities show that this type of measure can generally increase awareness of illegal parking. At the same time, attention is drawn to the concerns of pedestrians and cyclists.

The first edition of the reminder cards has been distributed since October 2021. The reminder cards now appear in the city's new corporate design and are in their 5th edition. The offer is primarily aimed at citizens who can distribute them in annoying everyday situations. However, the reminder cards are not a substitute for legal checks by the municipal traffic control department and the police.

The reminder cards can be ordered free of charge from the Mobility Planning Department (mobilitaetsplanung@stadt.erlangen.de) and can be downloaded here free of charge.
