City raises "Mayors for Peace" flag

This act symbolizes the city's commitment to promoting a peaceful and secure world on 8 July. "Mayors for Peace" is an international organization made up of mayors from all over the world with the common goal of creating a world without nuclear weapons. The initiative was launched in 1982 by the mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and has since developed into a global network that now comprises over 8,390 member cities. Erlangen was one of the first German member cities in the early 1980s.
