Rent subsidies

We promote the establishment of new owner-managed retail businesses with rent subsidies in Erlangen's city center. In this way, we aim to improve the branch mix and close gaps in the shopping streets.
The funding is aimed at owner-managed stores in the eligible area. Prerequisite: the business opening/relocation took place in the last three months and corresponds to the following prioritization:
Priority group A: Retail
- Clothing, especially in the niche products fair trade, upcycling
- Sportswear and equipment
- Regional products, especially food
- Fish and fish products
- National and international specialties
- Household products
- Cut flowers
Priority group B: Retail trade, art & culture
Retail trade
- Toys and handicrafts
- Home textiles
- Handicrafts
- haberdashery
- Music goods
Art and culture
- In particular artistic and handicraft products incl. studio
(e.g. manufacture of musical instruments/jewelry, gold/silversmith products, self-employed artists) - In the retail sector with art objects / art galleries, industrial, product and fashion design,
Self-employed photographers, repair and restoration of goods for artistic and everyday use
(also on a smaller scale for private individuals and not only in a structural context, e.g. musical instruments,
upholstered furniture, antiques, high quality goods...)
The funding is a two-year rental subsidy.
Priority group A: Maximum 40% of the net cold rent, but no more than €500 per month.
Priority group B: Maximum 25% of the net cold rent, but no more than €300 per month.
The City of Erlangen pays out the grant in full in the first year. In the second year, it is reduced to half of the specified subsidy.
An application can be submitted online. A signed rental agreement must be submitted.
