Microcensus 2024
Stand: 11.11.2024
Around 50,000 citizens will still be surveyed by the end of the year.
The microcensus starts every year in Bavaria - as in the rest of Germany. In contrast to the census, this small census collects data on the economic and social situation of the population. So far, around 70,000 Bavarian citizens have provided information. Over half of the respondents answered by telephone interview. The online reporting option is also frequently used. Around 50,000 people will be contacted by the State Statistical Office by the end of the year and asked to provide information. The State Statistical Office would like to draw attention to this. In total, one percent of the population, i.e. 120,000 people in Bavaria, are required to provide information for the microcensus.
Why does the microcensus exist?
By taking part, respondents ensure that political decisions can be made on the basis of facts. This is because they provide information about their working and living conditions. In this way, respondents contribute to
- understand the economic and social situation of households
- improve the living conditions of the population.
Only with reliable, high-quality data can political decisions, for example on combating poverty, promoting childcare or supporting pensioners, be made in a fact-based and targeted manner.
More information can be found on the website of the State Statistical Office.
