Four days filled with music and new encounters

Stand: 11.08.2026

The Tennenlohe Plucked String Orchestra Performs as a Guest of the Orchestra Mandolinistica “Euterpe” in Bolzano

From June 4 to 7, 2026, the Tennenlohe Plucked String Orchestra traveled to Bolzano, Tennenlohe’s sister city in South Tyrol, together with the Tennenlohe Art Circle. This continued the musical exchange with the Bolzano mandolin orchestra Euterpe , following a joint concert by the two ensembles in Tennenlohe the previous year. The visit was dedicated to the city partnership between Erlangen and Bolzano and, in addition to rehearsals and the concert, offered numerous opportunities for personal encounters and cultural exchange.

Joint Concert Delighted the Audience

The highlight of the trip was the joint concert on June 6, 2026, at the historic Merkantil building in Bolzano. In the special atmosphere of this traditional venue, the musicians presented a varied program featuring works from the Baroque era, the classical plucked-string orchestra repertoire, and popular music. The audience, which included Christoph Buratti—the city council member responsible for the sister-city partnership—was thrilled by the musical quality and the harmonious interplay between the two orchestras, and responded with enthusiastic applause. In addition to the musical experiences, the trip also offered many enjoyable shared activities. The time in Bolzano was used to explore the city and its surroundings, engage in conversation with one another, and create new memories.

Tennenlohe Art Circle Visits Bolzano for the First Time

In collaboration with the plucked-string orchestra, the Tennenlohe Art Circle also traveled to Bolzano. While there, the artists visited various exhibitions in the area, such as the “10th Gherdeina Biennale” in Val Gardena and the “Villa Freischütz” in Merano, where Georg Greve Lindau—to whom the Erlangen City Museum has also dedicated an exhibition this year—lived for a time.
