Nature conservation; nature conservation watch and nature conservation advisory board

Stand: 06.11.2024

Nature conservation watch

The city council has a nature conservation guard to monitor the protected areas and biotopes in the city. The eight employees work mainly on a voluntary basis and are employed under public law.

In their contact with citizens, they pay particular attention to potential conflicts of interest between nature conservation, leisure and recreation. The focus here is on education according to the motto: "You can only protect what you know!".

Nature conservation wardens help to identify detrimental changes in good time and avert potential damage to nature at an early stage. If you would like to find out more details or are interested in a permanent assignment yourself, please contact us.

In the linked flyer you will find further information about the work of the Bavarian nature conservation guards.

Nature conservation advisory board

The Lower Nature Conservation Authority in the Environmental Agency is often supported in its commitment by the Nature Conservation Advisory Board, which evaluates environmentally relevant plans and projects with a high level of expertise and develops proposals for taking ecological criteria into account. Further information on the meetings of the nature conservation advisory board can be found in the Erlangen council information system.

Film nature conservation watch

The Erlangen Nature Conservation Watch consists of eight volunteers who are regularly out and about in the countryside on behalf of the Environmental Agency. They are primarily responsible for Erlangen's landscape and nature conservation areas in order to identify special features that do not comply with the relevant legal standards. The film provides an overview of their activities and the cooperation with the lower nature conservation authority.
