New 2-court sports hall at Marie-Therese-Gymnasium Erlangen
Stand: 28.05.2024
The construction of the new double sports hall at Marie-Therese-Gymnasium Erlangen was completed in July 2018.
As part of the school renovation program of the city of Erlangen, the planning for the construction of a new double sports hall at the Marie-Therese-Gymnasium was decided in 2015.
The design of the sports halls had to be as efficient as possible in order to use as little space as possible and given the very limited space available at the school. The two sports halls are therefore stacked on two storeys, while the service infrastructure rooms such as changing rooms are stacked on four storeys. All levels are accessed via a handicapped-accessible elevator, which is also suitable for transporting materials, equipment and patients.
An induction loop for the hearing impaired has been installed for the assembly area in the ground floor hall and the standard room program in accordance with the school building guidelines has been accommodated in the sports hall. In addition, a storage and preparation room for the school circus group could be planned on the first floor. A photovoltaic system was installed on the flat roof of the sports hall.
The old gymnasium will be demolished after the renovation of the MTG school building in 2022 and converted into a recreation area.
