New electric wheel loader in the building yard

Stand: 05.07.2024

On Wednesday, July 3, the new all-electric compact wheel loader, which will be used for green space maintenance in the future, was presented together with Mayor Jörg Volleth.

The municipal company for urban greenery, waste management and street cleaning (EB77) will be using a fully electric wheel loader from July 2024. The 5-tonne compact wheel loader from Volvo was officially unveiled at a press event.

The compact wheel loader will be used for green space maintenance work. A dedicated charging point was set up outside in advance for this purpose.

The Volvo L25 ELECTRIC has two decoupled, maintenance-free electric motors and a gross output of around 40 kWh. The innovative electric wheel loader is a fully-fledged replacement for its diesel predecessor and makes a significant contribution to operating the fleet at EB77 with as few emissions as possible.

Further facts and figures at a glance:

  • 100% clean, reduces CO2, NOx emissions and particulate matter
  • Pleasant to work with: Almost noiseless drive, very low vibrations, no exhaust fumes
  • Induction drive motor (22kW)
  • Permanent magnet electric motor for the working hydraulics (14 kW)
  • Bucket capacity: 0.8-1.2 cubic meters
  • Operating weight: five tons
  • Tipping load: 3,350 kilograms
  • Payload on the fork (80 %): 2,000 kilograms
  • Max. Max. speed: 16 km/h
  • Around 30 % less maintenance
  • Proven performance, no disadvantage compared to a comparable diesel machine.

The electric compact wheel loader was subjected to a 6-month practical test with a rental machine in advance. This ensured that the tasks in the city green department could continue to be carried out smoothly with an emission-free wheel loader. In addition, the practical test has already identified the necessary technical details and required features that are important for the employees at Stadtgrün. The tender for the electric wheel loader was then adapted to the findings from the practical test.
