The problem:
Österreicher Straße is lined on both sides by mostly old maple trees in the area from "Schenkstraße" to "Am Röthelheim". These are located in extremely small open tree grates which are inadequate as a location for trees. As a result of the poor locations, the trees are showing declining vitality and signs of ageing.
What can be done about this?
In order to preserve the trees in the long term, the locations of the trees should be upgraded by means of an unsealing measure and thus made fit for the future.
To this end, parts of the asphalt areas between the trees are to be removed and designed as open green spaces. These will be protected from traffic and parking by stone blocks.
This measure will reduce the number of parking spaces between the tree grates.
In the further course of Österreicher Straße ("Am Röthelheim" to "Reichswaldstraße"), selective unsealing will also improve the location of the trees. Existing and extended green spaces will also be protected here by means of Nautur stone blocks. New planting locations for trees can be created in two places and the avenue of trees can be supplemented. Another new planting can take place in the existing green strips, so that a total of three new trees can be planted.
