Redesign of the playground at Pestalozzi elementary school
Stand: 28.05.2024
The measures are scheduled to start in fall 2024.
At the last meeting of the Environment, Transport and Planning Committee, the preliminary plans for the redesign of the playground at Pestalozzi Primary School were approved. It envisages completely redesigning the three school playgrounds.
- redesign
- unseal them
- to green them
- make them barrier-free.
For the "Green Classroom, Courtyard 4", the addition of a green classroom is planned in the area of the existing log cabin. The ground level will be raised at various points. This will largely eliminate the need for stairs and ramps. This will also create barrier-free access.
The plans provide for the preservation of trees and new planting as well as unsealing in the entrance area ("Courtyard 1"). There will be balancing and seating elements.
A new climbing facility in the form of a play ship will be created in the climbing courtyard ("Courtyard 2"). The existing pencils play structure will be reinstalled. Similar to the climbing courtyard, the ground surface in the façade and door area of the rest courtyard ("Courtyard 3") will also be raised. This will create barrier-free access. This also creates a seating edge. The central area will be designed as a quiet nature experience area.
The green classroom ("Courtyard 4") will be developed in the area of the existing log cabin, including numerous seating options.
Due to the detailed preliminary design planning, a separate resolution on the design plan is not required. Construction, which is planned in two phases, is scheduled to start in fall 2024. The current cost estimate is 1.81 million euros.
