Award ceremony for the Erlangen 2024 Baukultur Prize

The award honors buildings that have rendered outstanding services in terms of their urban integration, ecological, architectural and open-space design and climate protection, as well as being particularly suitable for their location.

the changing framework conditions and tasks, the image of the city is constantly changing and the process of

The aim is to award prizes for exemplary solutions to building tasks using contemporary architecture that are characterized not only by aesthetic, but also by ecological and economic sustainability.

The award ceremony took place on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Palais Stutterheim, Bürgersaal in Erlangen with Lord Mayor Florian Janik, Planning and Building Officer Harald Lang, the Chairman of the Baukunst Advisory Board and jury of the Baukultur Award Professor Manuel Bäumler and the representatives of the submitted objects.

All submitted objects can be seen in an exhibition from 25.11.2024 - 13.12.2024 in the foyer, Palais Stutterheim, Marktplatz 1, Erlangen.

The jury has awarded 1 distinction and 2 recognitions.

The Erlangen 2024 Holz Kirchner Building Culture Prize is awarded for the refurbishment, conversion and activation of the vacant building ensemble on the Holz Kirchner Areal Erlangen in Erlangen.

Our congratulations go to Holz - Kirchner GmbH & Co KG, Mr. Kirchner, Erlangen as the client and the architects Innenarchitekt PartGmbH, Maurizio De Rosa, Prof. Katharina Bonhag-De Rosa, Erlangen as well as the specialist engineering offices and trades involved in the construction.

Recognition goes to "ECAP Laboratory - Forschungsbau Erlangen Centre for Astroparticle Physics Laboratory" in Erlangen.

5 projects were submitted.

The spectrum ranges from listed conversions to contemporary new buildings.
Overall, the entries show a cross-section of the diverse development of the city in architecture and open space planning.

The prize consists of a plaque by the artist Sabine Straub from Munich, which is attached to the winning building. The object is honored, and the client and planner also receive certificates.
