Smoking Ban in Forests

Stand: 30.07.2026

From March 1 through October 31, there is a ban on smoking in forests. And there are a few other important rules.

  • Do not light any fires in or near the forest, including barbecue fires. Stay at least 100 meters away from the forest (Bavarian Forest Act)
  • Do not throw lit cigarettes out of your car
  • Never park vehicles on flammable surfaces due to hot catalytic converters
  • Passenger cars, motorcycles, and agricultural vehicles must not be parked on meadows or forest trails.
