To put it simply: its complexity. This department deals with many different topics—either because they have economic implications or because they have financial implications.

First: The healthy growth of our economy! If it is successful, there will be promising companies and jobs, and citizens will have sufficient income to make ends meet.

And second: sound finances! To create a city that is pleasant to live in and worth living in—today and sustainably into the future.

Our primary goal is not to attract businesses from other locations to relocate to Erlangen. We want to offer entrepreneurs and our existing businesses favorable conditions for growth. And anyone who starts a business here—or “does business” here—will find excellent transportation infrastructure, well-functioning networks within the business community, a top-tier university, and an economic development agency that “listens to the needs of the business community”!

As a teenager, I might have been able to imagine that, but today I'd answer that question with a "no." Besides, Erlangen is already excellently represented by our Minister of State, Joachim Herrmann.

My bicycles (one personal and one for work), my Beetle convertible, and my garden—the greenery is such a treat for the eyes.
