Challenge week 2024: September 30 - October 6

This is how it works:

Taking part means: 7 days of eating and drinking what has grown a maximum of 50 kilometers around your home and using a maximum of 3 Jokers.

There's already a lot on offer from mid-September, so prepare for the challenge together with us. If you don't want to wait that long, you can start your personal challenge at any time!

It's worth taking part: for our region, the climate and you!

Why? Because every purchase counts and our region offers so many delicious things. Products that end up in our shopping baskets have an impact on the agriculture and landscape of our home region, on biodiversity and, last but not least, on the climate. Just as the mass consumption of palm oil destroys primeval forests in Indonesia, eating local fruit preserves the orchards on our doorstep. You will discover specialties from your region and new favorite recipes.

Origin

If stores don't publish information about the origin of their products, it's worth asking! This is certainly easiest with farm and regional stores. Some suppliers communicate the transport routes quite openly on their website, for example the organic supermarket ebl or the Marktschwärmerei provide information on the origin of their products.

Examples:

ebl Naturkost:

In-house ebl butchery in Fürth: The farms from which the animals originate are all located in Franconia or the Upper Palatinate within a maximum radius of 130 km around Fürth.

General: More than half of the farmers and suppliers come from the region.

Marktschwärmer Erlangen:

Your purchase only travels an average of 40 km until it lands on your plate.

Regioplus Lapbook for schools

REGIONAL, ORGANIC and SEASONAL in school lessons - take part with your class! As part of the Regioplus Challenge, the eco-model region Nuremberg/Nürnberger Land/Roth has created teaching material in the form of lapbooks. The lapbooks make it possible to work on the triad of REGIONAL, ORGANIC and SEASONAL in the classroom. The material is aimed at pupils from the 3rd grade and is intended to be integrated directly into lessons.
