Erlangen is the safest large city in Germany (size 100,000 and 200,000 inhabitants). For the first time, the independent city in Central Franconia, which has also been ranked top in Bavaria and Germany in recent years, is ranked number 1.
Lord Mayor Florian Janik spoke of a strong sign of the good cooperation between the security authorities. "Erlangen is a safe place to live. The daily commitment to local security is worthwhile. I would like to thank the police and the many people of Erlangen who support us with their vigilance and civil courage." He particularly emphasized the importance of prevention. It is crucial not only to react, but to recognize risks at an early stage and counteract them together.
Janik described the close coordination between the police and municipal departments, in particular the public order authority, as a central component of this success. It makes it possible to react flexibly and quickly to new challenges.
