Mayor Christian Lehrmann, Kerstin Knörl, director of the City Youth Welfare Office, department heads, and the City Youth Welfare Office’s training office were delighted to welcome 21 new faces to the educational facilities.
The group of new trainees is quite diverse: 19 women and two men are embarking together on an exciting new year of training.
Who are the new team members?
- 4 interns in the introductory year of social pedagogy (SEJ)
- 7 vocational trainees on their way to becoming early childhood educators (BP)
- 8 trainees in the practice-integrated early childhood education program (PiA)—two of whom are starting their SEJ year first
- 2 trainees in the practice-integrated child care training program (KiPrax)
Diversity as a Strength
Just as varied as the training paths are the people who will enrich the city of Erlangen’s daycare centers and play and learning rooms starting September 1, 2026. Some will start right after graduating from high school (such as with a Mittlere Reife or Abitur), while others already bring experience from a college degree or another training program and have gained professional and life experience in other fields.
A Shared Goal
Despite their different backgrounds, they are all united by a common motivation: They want to pursue a career in which they can support, guide, and nurture the children of the city of Erlangen and their families, and actively help shape their future.
