“A Poet Who Lost His Heart”
Under this title, Friedrich Rückert takes center stage at the Neustadt University Church in Erlangen—a Franconian prince of poetry and family man. He is regarded as a brilliant master of language and a bridge-builder between cultures. His life story is closely linked to the Huguenot city. He is commemorated not only in monuments but also as the “muse of music.” The event will feature historical recordings, “Liebesfrühling,” and a fitting organ performance by Prof. Dr. Konrad Klek.

Verbindungshaus | Universitätsstraße 18

The historic Verbindungshaus of the Germania Erlangen fraternity at Universitätsstraße 18 was built in 1888 as the first building of its kind in the city of Erlangen. Two further renovations in 1906 and 1963 gave the building its current appearance. The Germanenhaus is home to the active members (Aktivitas) of the fraternity, which will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2027. “At the house”—as the fraternity members say—is where events, lectures, and parties take place.
Guided tours of the fraternity house are offered, during which visitors are not only shown the premises but also given an explanation of the history of student fraternities and sororities—in particular the Germania fraternity, founded in 1827.
