Tutors at the Werner-von-Siemens-Realschule in Erlangen are ninth- and tenth-grade students who volunteer throughout the school year, under the guidance of Ms. Scheer (JaS) and Mr. Brüggemann (LK), look after new classmates in the fifth grades.
Who can become a tutor?
In principle, any student in the ninth or tenth grade can become a tutor. Required qualities:
- Social commitment
- Outgoing personality
- Empathy
- Enjoyment of working with younger people
- Creativity
- Some organizational skills
- Personal responsibility and reliability

Goal of the tutor’s work
- To facilitate a smooth transition from elementary school or middle school to a Realschule, fostering a positive learning environment
- To make it easier for new students to get started so they can identify with the school
- Strengthen class cohesion and exemplify the school culture
- Address minor issues arising in everyday school life, help resolve them, and/or refer them to the appropriate authorities
- Foster environmental awareness
