Medical care at the highest level is what the University Hospital Erlangen, founded in 1815, stands for. In the worldwide hospital rating published in the American Newsweek at the beginning of 2023, the University Hospital Erlangen scores excellently. Globally, the University Hospital is among the TOP 100 and was able to move up a few places compared to the previous year (94th place, previous year 99th place). Within Germany, around 200 hospitals were evaluated. The University Hospital ranks among the TOP 5 percent here in 11th place. An excellent medical infrastructure and an equally excellent medical research landscape are location factors that have an impact far beyond the city and metropolitan region.
