In January and February, maintenance measures are carried out on small bodies of water and streams, so-called third-order waters, in the city area. These measures are necessary to maintain ecological functionality. But also to ensure regulated water flow, for example during floods.
Depending on the weather and ground frost, the watercourses involved include Adergraben, Bachgraben, Bimbach, Eltersdorfer Bach/Hutgraben, Erlengraben, Heuschlaggraben, Ortsbach Kriegenbrunn, Rittersbach, Röthelheimgraben, Steinforstgraben and Wolfsäckergraben.
The authorized employees of the city may enter and temporarily use properties for this purpose (§ 41 Water Resources Act).
