What are the requirements for a change after the 5th grade?
What does my child need to be able to switch to a different type of school after Year 5?
Depending on the grade point average, your child can transfer to the Realschule, the Wirtschaftsschule or the Gymnasium. There are no trial lessons and parents have no influence. Only the grades in the annual report decide.
Prerequisites
From 5th grade middle school to 6th grade business school:
- Grade point average of 2.66 or better in German, mathematics and HSU in the elementary school transfer certificate
- Grade point average at secondary school in German, mathematics and English of 2.66 or better
- Passed trial lessons
in the 5th grade of secondary school (with repetition of the 5th grade):
- Grade point average in German and mathematics of 2.5 or better
Directly into the 6th grade of Realschule (without repeating the 5th grade):
- Grade point average in German and math better than 2.0 and counseling interview with parents
- Grade point average worse than 2.0, successful entrance examination and successful probationary period
to the 5th grade of grammar school (with repetition of the 5th grade):
- Grade point average in German and mathematics of 2.0 or better
direct admission to the 6th grade of the grammar school (without repeating the 5th grade):
- Successful entrance examination and probationary period
to the 5th grade of grammar school (with repetition of the 5th grade):
- Grade point average of 2.5 or better (German and mathematics)
Directly into the 6th grade of grammar school (without repeating the 5th grade):
- Grade point average of 2.0 or better (German, mathematics and English)
- otherwise with successful entrance examination and passed probationary period
