Water damage in the kubic

Regular event operations at the kubic culture and education campus (Südliche Stadtmauerstraße) cannot start as planned for the opening celebrations on Saturday, February 28. This is due to water damage, which is delaying the necessary expert inspections in the event area. Only limited operation is therefore possible until further notice. Events can only take place on a reduced scale until the relevant approvals have been obtained. And in compliance with all safety requirements.

Moisture in the technical room and in the main power distribution system

Shortly before the planned opening a week ago Thursday, a water pipe on the first floor that had not been grouted caused serious water damage. The water leakage caused moisture to enter the technical room below and the main power distribution board, causing the power to fail in parts of the building. So far, however, the electrical system has not been severely damaged. The safety systems are expected to be fully operational again next week.

Only limited operation possible in the event area

The event area with the Stufensaal and the new large hall is particularly affected by the delays. The service office, which will serve as a central point of contact for citizens and groups in the future, is also unable to open as planned. This also affects the regular operation of the youth art school, adult education center and vacation programs. Until the final inspection certificates have been issued, only limited operations are possible in the events area. Some of the events already planned will therefore have to be postponed or canceled. Only events that can be guaranteed to take place without exception can take place. Individual checks are carried out for each individual case.

There are positive prospects for use by clubs in particular: The group rooms, which are located in another part of the kubic building, can probably be used as planned from mid-March. The operations of the municipal singing and music school, the Franco-German Institute and the daycare center are also unaffected by the restrictions.
