Admission of nominations for the municipal elections

Eight nominations each for the election of the City Council and for the election of the Lord Mayor were approved.
On January 20, the election committee decided in a public meeting on the approval of the election proposals for the municipal elections on March 8, 2026.
Approved election proposals
The following nominations were approved
- Christian Social Union
- FREIE WÄHLER Bayern / Free Voters' Association Erlangen
- Alternative for Germany
- Alliance 90/The Greens/Green List
- Social Democratic Party of Germany
- Ecological-Democratic Party
- Free Democratic Party
- Erlangen Left Party
Eight nominations each for the election of the City Council and for the election of the Lord Mayor were admitted.
Non-admitted nominations
The nominations for the city council election from
- Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (175)
- Erlangen Citizens' List (22)
- Mensch Umwelt Tierschutz party (10) and
- Volt Deutschland (155)
did not reach the required number of 385 valid supporting signatures.
The nominations for the mayoral election of the
- Erlangen Citizens' List (29)
- Mensch Umwelt Tierschutz party (10) and
- Volt Germany (156)
also did not reach the required number of 385 valid supporting signatures. The nominations were not admitted to the municipal election.
Objection period
Objections to the decision of the election committee can be raised with the election officer until Monday, January 26, 2026, 18:00. After the end of the objection period and, if applicable, the appeal period, the final approval of the nominations will be officially announced.

Electoral Office
The electoral office is set up temporarily around six months before general votes (referendums and plebiscites) and elections (local, district, state and European elections). Responsible for the overall implementation - e.g. electoral roll, polling stations, polling assistants, voter notification, postal voting and more.

Due to the shortened application deadline, the electoral office is offering extended or additional opening hours for the issuing of postal voting documents in the town hall, 1st floor, small meeting room:
