From the large parking lot to the Regnitzstadt

The city of Erlangen has launched an urban planning competition to develop the new "Regnitzstadt" district from the former large parking lot. The Dortmund office scheuvens + wachten plus planungsgesellschaft mbh won the competition and was commissioned by the city council to draw up an urban development framework plan. Extensive public participation is planned.

The active involvement of citizens and stakeholders is an integral part of the development of the large parking lot. An exhibition of existing studies, ideas and designs took place from July 24 to August 9, 2018. As part of a city walk with a participation event, public participation in the competition took place on July 26, 2019. The suggestions, wishes and ideas of the citizens were recorded and became part of the competition brief. An information and participation event as part of the framework plan process took place on November 17, 2023.
