The construction of a new community center—including a neighborhood library—in the Büchenbach-West neighborhood will create a sociocultural hub and an innovative, versatile, open, and creative gathering place in the western part of the city.

The new West Community Center will be a versatile, open, and creative hub. It will house: an adult education center (vhs), a library, a community gathering space, a youth art school, creative spaces, an event stage, a relaxation oasis, an outdoor reading area for children, and a bonfire area.

Both local residents and the diverse groups of users of the planned facility are actively involved in determining its potential uses and design. To this end, several events and community workshops were held from spring 2019 through spring 2020.
In addition, a so-called “construction family” was formed in late 2019, comprising not only staff from the relevant municipal departments and the architectural firm but also nine residents of Büchenbach. At regular meetings, the relevant departments provide updates on the current status of the project. The plans are discussed collectively.
