From the large parking lot to the Regnitzstadt

With "Regnitzstadt", Erlangen is to have a new district on the former large parking lot. At the same time, the district is to become a striking entrance to the city and be strengthened as a mobility hub.

As a result of the urban planning competition, the planning office scheuvens + wachten plus was commissioned to draw up the framework plan. The city council approved this in June 2024. The framework plan thus forms the planning basis for further planning. Work is currently underway on various exploratory studies/concepts and expert opinions, which together form the basis for further adapting the framework plan and ultimately translating it into planning regulations via a development plan.

The active involvement of citizens and stakeholders is an integral part of the development of Regnitzstadt. An exhibition of existing studies, ideas and designs took place from July 24 to August 9, 2018. As part of a city walk with a participation event, public participation in the competition took place on July 26, 2019. The suggestions, wishes and ideas of the citizens were recorded and became part of the competition brief. An information and participation event as part of the framework plan process took place on November 17, 2023. The public will be kept constantly informed throughout the project, for example by means of a city walk in June 2024.
Various participation formats are planned for 2026, including public participation as part of the urban land-use planning process (Section 3 (1) BauGB) and an information event.
