A73 Highway Overpass
Stand: 03.11.2025
Together with the Free State of Bavaria and the federal government’s Autobahn GmbH, the city of Erlangen is seeking solutions to improve noise protection in the urban area along the A 73 federal highway. Residents of the adjacent residential areas would benefit most from a potential enclosure of the highway.
Informationen
The study on the enclosure of the A 73 federal highway has been available since April 2019 for the section from Tennenloher Straße to Paul-Gossen-Straße. A report by the Northern Bavaria Highway Authority forecasts a significant increase in traffic on the A 73 federal highway in the Erlangen urban area north of the highway interchange by 2035. This would require an expansion of the highway, followed by noise abatement measures.
In 2024, the feasibility study was expanded to include the section up to the Erlangen Zentrum interchange. The goal of the Federal Motorway Corporation (Northern Bavaria Branch) is to complete the preliminary study on this basis by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Autobahn GmbH des Bundes (Northern Bavaria Branch) will inform the steering committee of the results. The documents will then be presented to the public.
Start of the first preliminary study in 2011
At this time, it is not possible to estimate the costs.
