A73 freeway lid
Stand: 03.11.2025
Together with the Free State of Bavaria and the federal government's Autobahn GmbH, the city of Erlangen is looking for solutions to improve noise protection in the urban area along the A 73 federal highway. The residents of the neighboring residential areas in particular would benefit from a possible enclosure of the freeway.
Informationen
The study on the enclosure of the A 73 federal highway has been available since April 2019 for the section from Tennenloher Straße to Paul-Gossen-Straße. An expert opinion from the Autobahndirektion Nordbayern (North Bavarian Motorway Authority) predicts a significant increase in traffic for the A 73 motorway in the city of Erlangen north of the freeway junction by 2035. This would require a freeway expansion, followed by noise protection measures.
In 2024, the feasibility study was extended to include the section up to the Erlangen Zentrum junction. The aim of Autobahn GmbH des Bundes (Nordbayern branch) is to complete the preliminary study on this basis by the end of 2025 / beginning of 2026. Autobahn GmbH des Bundes (Nordbayern branch) will inform the steering committee of the results. The documents will then be presented to the public.
Start of the first preliminary investigation in 2011
It is currently not possible to determine the costs.
