Development of the "Siemens Mitte" Neighborhood
Stand: 28.05.2026
A new, vibrant, inner-city neighborhood is taking shape on the former Siemens site in Erlangen-Mitte along Werner-von-Siemens-Straße. This neighborhood combines residential, commercial, retail, and recreational spaces, creating sustainable added value for the citizens of Erlangen.
Informationen
Siemens AG is currently developing the Siemens Campus in the southern part of Erlangen. This also means that large parts of the “Siemens Mitte” district, located near the city center along Werner-von-Siemens-Straße, will become vacant and available for new uses. The following reuse concepts have been implemented:
- Nürnberger Straße 74 was renovated and will be occupied by Friedrich-Alexander University in 2025, with approximately 400 employees
- The “Himbeerpalast” will become the new location for FAU’s Faculty of Philosophy. Renovation work began in November 2024
- New building permits have been issued for the Blaues Hochhaus district. Planning for the project’s implementation is currently underway
- The Montessori University of Applied Sciences and the State Vocational School for Nursing have moved into the renovated buildings at Werner-von-Siemens-Straße 41
- The cornerstone was laid for the new residential and commercial building at Mozartstraße 33 in May 2026
- Competition for the new neighborhood at Werner-von-Siemens-Straße 60
2017 to approximately 2030
At this time, there are no planning costs involved.
In April 2024, a public walking tour of the neighborhood took place. The city administration regularly reports on developments to the City Council.
