Adoption of Zoning Plan No. 476 for the City of Erlangen—Industrial Park South of Steudacher Straße—with an Integrated Green Space Plan and Early Public Participation
At a public meeting on December 9, 2025, the Environment, Transportation, and Planning Committee of the City of Erlangen resolved to adopt Development Plan No. 476 — Industrial Park South of Steudacher Straße — with an integrated green space plan in accordance with the provisions of the German Building Code (BauGB).
Pursuant to Section 2(1), sentence 2, of the BauGB, the resolution to draw up the plan was hereby published in the manner customary for the locality.
The geographical scope is shown on the site plan printed below. The map is based on an excerpt from the real estate cadastre dated August 2026.
In accordance with the provisions of the Building Code (§ 3(1) BauGB), an early public participation process was conducted. The objectives and purposes of the plan were publicly presented, and opportunities for comment and discussion were provided.
The preliminary draft of the zoning plan, along with its explanatory statement, was made available to the public on the Internet from September 21, 2026, through October 23, 2026.

The goal of urban land-use planning is to create commercial areas for the economic development of the city of Erlangen and to secure business locations and jobs within the city. To this end, the existing “Gundstraße” commercial area will be expanded westward in accordance with the land-use plan.
To date, the planning area has been used for agricultural purposes, but large portions of it are already designated as commercial development land in the City of Erlangen’s 2003 Land Use Plan.
The preparation of Development Plan No. 476 is taking place in a parallel procedure pursuant to Section 8(3) of the German Building Code (BauGB), concurrently with the 27th amendment to the Land Use Plan. A corresponding amendment to the 2003 Land Use Plan is intended to create the necessary commercial development areas by consolidating and expanding the existing designation in the Land Use Plan.
The preliminary draft of the zoning plan will also be on display in the town hall foyer during the public comment period.
