Keep your distance from trees

Stand: 27.02.2026

Damage to trees caused by the heavy snowfall at the end of January is still being repaired. The public is urgently requested to pay attention to barriers and barrier posts and not to bypass them.

The city green department continues to work at full speed to secure the trees damaged by the masses of snow at the end of January throughout the city. Hundreds of damaged trees have to be checked and loose and damaged branches removed. Extensive forestry and safety work is currently taking place in the municipal forests - particularly in Meilwald and the Atzelsberg area. Among other things, so-called harvesters (large timber harvesting machines) are being used. In addition, the staff of the City Green Department carry out tree felling. The work is aimed at repairing damage caused by the heavy snowfall at the end of January. Numerous trees were damaged, bent or destabilized by the snow load and must therefore be removed or secured.

Pay attention to barriers

The public is urgently requested to pay attention to barriers and barrier posts and not to bypass them. There is a danger to life in the closed areas, including from falling trees and the use of heavy machinery.

Problems with trees on public land can be reported by e-mail to baumpflege@stadt.erlangen.de.
