The pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Adenauerring leading to the Heinrich-Kirchner School is to be renovated in a resource-efficient manner. The City Council’s Construction Committee approved this decision on September 15, 2026, and instructed the city administration to begin the preliminary design phase. The preferred option is to construct a new steel truss superstructure. The existing abutments will largely be preserved and reused for the new superstructure. The estimated cost for this project is approximately 910,000 euros.

The project aims to permanently and safely restore the existing pedestrian and bicycle path connection to the Heinrich-Kirchner School. By utilizing the existing abutments, disruptions to traffic will be kept to a minimum.
Since late 2023, the bridge has been partially closed due to moisture damage to the wooden structure. Because the damage is spreading, a complete closure would be necessary starting in the summer of 2027.
